Thursday, November 6th: Samaritan Centre Soup Bowl
This is the second year Tea and Chi will be participating in the Soup Bowl. If you are unfamiliar with the concept the Soup Bowl is "an experiential event" with participation from many local potters, restaurants and other local businesses. In short, the potters get together in the summer and throw a large number of soup bowls (Jaci and I threw 95 between the two of us) and in November restaurant all across town donate soup which is then served at different points throughout town. The public is then invited to purchase a cup of soup for a $5 donation or a cup of soup and a bowl for a suggested $15. Tea and Chi will offer two different choices on that day between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm. You can choose from our creamy Greek Chicken Lemon (avgolemono) or our vegan Cannellini bean soup. All proceeds from the soups and bowls go to support the Samaritan Centre.
November 14th-16th: Riverside Children's Theatre Festival of Trees
Tea and Chi is donating a decorated Christmas tree to the Riverside Children's Theatre for the Festival of Trees. Our tree's theme is "Peace and Earth". Jaci and I have worked hard all year long hand-making, firing, glazing and raku-ing tiny teapot and teacup ornaments for our tree. The tree is meant to reflect the peace that we find both in our tea and in the art of ceramics that we are so fond of. We hope it will bring a good price at auction. Money from the auction goes to support the Children's Theatre and if you've never been to see the trees you really should. It's one of the best ways available in Vero Beach to get into the Christmas spirit.
A limited number of handmade, raku, teapot ornaments will be available at Tea and Chi as of December.
